South Sydney Rabbitohs go in search of their fourth straight win over the last-placed Canterbury Bulldogs when they two sides meet in their traditional Good Friday clash in NRL Round 6 action.

On the back of superstar Greg Inglis announcing his retirement, South Sydney will be riding a wave of emotion as they take on Canterbury on Good Friday at ANZ Stadium.

Inglis’ retirement didn’t come as the biggest shock as he’s dealt with multiple injury problems over the last few years, but a player of his stature calling a premature time to his career is always going to cause a major stir.

However, the Rabbitohs have been playing some great football without Inglis to start the season, and now they must move on, starting with their big game against the Bulldogs - the team they beat to win the 2014 Grand Final.

Souths started the season on fire but have tailed off in recent weeks, losing to Manly and barely beating the lowly Titans and Warriors.

Canterbury meanwhile were sent crashing back down to earth after they were hammered 40-4 by the Dragons last week.

It was the Bulldogs of the first two rounds when they also leaked 40 and 36 points against the Warriors and Eels respectively, and not the improved team that beat the Tigers and lost by just two points to competition leaders Melbourne of the previous fortnight.

Dean Pay will be hoping the occasion will help lift his team on Good Friday, with the Bulldogs desperately needing to work on their defence if they are going to be any hope.

The Bulldogs have proven they can bounce back from heavy losses to match it with the best already this season, but regardless, I think Souths are set for a routine victory. They will want to win for ‘GI’ and have the attack to carve up a leaky Bulldogs defence. I’d be shocked if the Dogs come away with the win.

Stats

Souths have won their last three meetings
Rabbitohs won the 2018 Good Friday clash 20-16
Six of their last seven meetings have seen a winning margin of 13+

A Grand Final rematch headlines round six when the Storm host the Roosters on Friday night. Both sides have picked up where they left off a season ago, with the Storm undefeated and the Roosters winning four on the trot. Melbourne’s 18-12 win against the Cowboys in round five was their fifth win from five starts, but Friday night’s match will be their sternest test of the season so far. The Roosters have blitzed the Broncos and Sharks in consecutive weeks, but will be wanting to stamp their premiership credentials with a win against their nearest rival. In team news, it’s just the one change for Melbourne as Suliasi Vunivalu returns on the wing replacing Sandor Earl. The premiers are strengthened with the return of Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, which shifts Zane Tetevano to lock. Hooker Jake Friend remains out, with Victor Radley the starting number nine. The 2018 Grand Final was surprisingly all one way traffic the Roosters way, but the clashes between the two sides prior to that have all been close. 1, 3 and 1 point margins decided their regular season matches in 2017 and 2018. In each of those matches, a field goal was kicked and The Wolf wouldn’t discount another one deciding this ripper round six match. Melbourne’s revenge factor is big in this one and at home, you’ll rarely get them at such a good price.

Two wins from five matches are not how the Sharks or Panthers wanted to start the season, with a loss for either side on Thursday night sure to put them under enormous pressure. A 10 minute blitz by the Roosters put the Sharks away in round six, with the reigning champs leading 30-0 before a late flurry for Cronulla. The Panthers played in a see-sawing match against the Titans a week ago, losing 30-24 to the then winless Gold Coast. Ivan Cleary has once again shuffled his pack after that loss, with Tim Grant making his first appearance for the club this season, relegating NSW big man Reagan Campbell-Gillard to the bench. There are injury clouds surrounding Andrew Fifita and Paul Gallen for the Sharks, but both have been named to start. The Sharks have a dominant recent record against the Panthers, winning their past six against the men from the foot of the mountains. Both sides are in the top four in the competition for errors made, so this could be a sloppy game, but The Wolf thinks the Sharks are too good to pass up at home and will end their losing streak at two matches.

Teams:

Sharks: 1. Josh Dugan 2. Sosaia Feki 3. Bronson Xerri 4. Josh Morris 5. Sione Katoa 6. Shaun Johnson 7. Chad Townsend 8. Andrew Fifita 9. Jayden Brailey 10. Matt Prior 11. Briton Nikora 12. Kurt Capewell 13. Paul Gallen (C)

Interchange: 14. Blayke Brailey 15. Jayson Bukuya 16. Jack Williams 17. Scott Sorensen

Reserves: 18. Kyle Flanagan 19. William Kennedy 20. Braden Hamlin-Uele 21. Aaron Gray

Team news: Prop Andrew Fifita (hamstring) has been named despite an early finish last week. He’ll be given until game day to prove his fitness. Paul Gallen (ribs) also returns after missing two weeks. Jack Williams shifts to the bench with Braden Hamlin-Uele dropping out of the 17.

Panthers: 1. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, 2. Josh Mansour, 3. Dean Whare, 4. Waqa Blake, 5. Dylan Edwards, 6. James Maloney, 7. Nathan Cleary, 8. James Tamou, 9. Wayde Egan, 10. Tim Grant, 11. Viliame Kikau 12. Isaah Yeo, 13. James Fisher-Harris.

The Dragons have gotten home by the barest of margins in the past two weeks, with Corey Norman field goals accounting for all four of their competition points this season. They head into this round five clash agains the Dogs at the shortest price they have been all season, as they look to make it three wins in a row. Korbin Sims’ broken arm means Luciano Leilua gets a spot on the bench, with Tyson Frizell starting this weekend. Dylan Napa’s ankle injury sees the Dogs also make a change in the forwards, as Ofahiki Ogden starts. Canterbury played a brilliant first half in Melbourne a week ago, before a chance to take the game into golden point fell by the wayside as the usually reliable Rhyse Martin missed a last minute conversion. The Dogs have owned this fixture in recent times, winning 7 of 8, including a resounding 38-0 win in round 24 a season ago. The Wolf sees the resurgent Canterbury brigade as in with a big chance of an upset on Sunday, especially at the line.

The Canberra Raiders will hope their strong start to the season continues on Sunday night when they host Parramatta. Both sides have won three games this season after missing the finals a year ago and a win in round five will have them in a great position to play footy at the pointy end of the season. Canberra welcomes Joe Tapine back after a thumb injury, with Aidan Sezer named in the extended squad. Ricky Stuart will have a tough decision to make if Sezer is fit to return, with fill-in Sam Williams winning both games at half back so far. There are no changes for the Eels ahead of this one after a 12-point win against Cronulla in round four. It’s been all Canberra in the head-to-head matches between these sides, with the Raiders winning 6 of 7, with Parra’s last win in the capital coming way back in 2006. The Green Machine will look to continue their strong home form against the Eels and The Wolf thinks they’ll be too good on Sunday night.

South Sydney Rabbitohs look to return to the winners circle on Saturday when they take on the New Zealand Warriors in NRL Round 5 action.

Wayne Bennett will want an immediate response from his Rabbitohs outfit when they square off against the unpredictable Warriors in the first of three games on Super Saturday.

Souths lost their first game of the season last week when they went down 13-12 to Manly at Lottoland - a performance that followed a scrappy win over the bottom-placed Titans the previous round.

After a lightning start to the season in which they toppled minor premiers the Roosters and rivals St George Illawarra, the Rabbitohs risk being dragged back into the pack if they fail to topple the Warriors on Saturday.

There’s still no sign of a Greg Inglis return for Souths, with Bennett deciding to elevate Kyle Turner into the centres, while Liam Knight returns from suspension on the bench.

Meanwhile, the Warriors returned to winning ways last week when they easily accounted for the Titans by a 26-10 scoreline.

It was a much-needed victory for the Warriors, who after a big win over Canterbury to launch the season, conceded 34 points to the Tigers and 46 to the Sea Eagles. The first month of the season is a perfect illustration of just how inconsistent the Warriors are.

Sam Lisone returns from suspension for the Warriors to strengthen their bench, replacing Ligi Sao.

Souths have been the dominant team in this match-up recently, winning eight of their last nine meetings, while the last six of those have been by a 13+ margin. The Warriors haven’t had much luck against a disciplined and structured side, and Bennett won’t allow another lacklustre display from his side. Expect Souths to bounce back strongly.

Stats

Souths have won eight of their last nine meetings
Rabbitohs’ last six wins over Warriors have been by a 13+ margin
Souths won 30-10 in their last clash in R12 in 2018

Newcastle Knights go in search of their third straight win over Manly Sea Eagles when the two teams clash in NRL Round 5 action on Saturday.

Newcastle have lost three of their first four games in 2019 but have been close to winning every one of them - can they produce a more clinical performance to take out a confident Manly side on Saturday?

Touted by many to make the finals this season, it’s been a tough start to the season for the Knights, but the good news for Nathan Brown is that his team have been in every game, and if not for a bit of back luck, they could be in a much better position after four rounds.

Indeed, all three of Newcastle’s defeats have been by a combined margin of 10 points, but whiled defence isn’t an issue for the team, attack clearly is, with the Knights failing to score more than 14 points in any game this season.

For a team blessed with the talent of Kalyn Ponga and Mitchell Pearce in their spine, that simply isn’t good enough. Ponga looked better at fullback last week, but the Knights need Pearce to step up if they are going to overcome Manly on Saturday.

The Sea Eagles endured a rough start to the season, but they are on the right track now, winning their last two games against the Warriors (a big victory where they scored 46 points) and last week against a previously-unbeaten Rabbitohs outfit, prevailing 13-12 at home.

However, Manly also suffered a big blow in that win, with star fullback Tom Trbojevic set to miss the next two months after re-injuring his hamstring.

The Sea Eagles struggled significantly with Trbojevic at the start of the season and could find the going tough without him again. But, in saying that, his brother Jake and Daly Cherry-Evans have stepped up in recent weeks and are leading from the front.

Newcastle have won the last two games between the sides, but both were close, and I can see another tight contest eventuating again on Saturday. The Knights aren’t doing much wrong, but they need a bit more spice in attack. Manly are playing tough football under Des Hasler, but the loss of Trbojevic is huge. It could be time for Newcastle to edge a confidence-boosting win to kick-start their season.

Stats

Knights have won their last two encounters
Both of those wins were by six points or less
Manly’s last win in Newcastle came in 2016

Players List:

Knights: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Edrick Lee 3. Hymel Hunt 4. Jesse Ramien 5. Shaun Kenny-Dowall 6. Mason Lino 7. Mitchell Pearce 8. David Klemmer 9. Danny Levi 10. James Gavet 11. Lachlan Fitzgibbon 12. There was a time between 2014-17 that Cronulla dominated the Roosters, winning six straight games against the current reigning premiers, but the Roosters have turned the tables in recent times, prevailing in their last three meetings - and the Tricolours look the goods to make it four on Saturday night.

After losing the opening game of their title defence to the Rabbitohs, the Roosters have won their last three, including a superb 36-4 demolition of the Broncos last week.

James Tedesco is an early favourite for the Dally M Medal after a blistering start to the season, while Luke Keary is arguably the form half in the competition at the moment.

Trent Robinson’s side only gets stronger this week, with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves returning from a rib injury, pushing Nat Butcher out of the side.

Cronulla also welcome back a couple of big stars for this contest, with Shaun Johnson and captain Paul Gallen each returning to the side after missing the 24-12 defeat to Parramatta last week.

However, Matt Moylan is still out and he is joined in the casualty ward by Aaron Woods, who broke his foot against the Eels.

It’s been hard to get a read on the Sharks this season - they’re 2-2, but their two wins came against lowly Queensland sides the Titans and Cowboys, while they’ve also lost to the Knights, in addition to Parramatta last week.

It doesn’t look like form worthy of troubling the minor premiers on Saturday night. The Roosters are looking in excellent touch right now and will be full of confidence after destroying the Broncos last week. It’s looking like win No. 4 on the trot for the Roosters on Saturday.

Stats

Roosters have won the last three games between the sides
Sharks won the previous six before those
Roosters won their last clash at PointsBet Stadium 28-10 in R5 last year

Penrith Panthers go in search of their fifth straight win against the lowly Gold Coast Titans when the two sides clash in NRL Round 5 action on Friday night.

Don’t expect a lot of points when the Titans and Panthers square off on Friday night up on the Gold Coast.

The two teams are the worst attacking teams in the competition over the first four rounds, averaging less than 10 points per game.

Gold Coast are the only winless team over the first month of the competition, scoring just 36 points and barely threatening at any stage to win even one of those games.

Obviously attack is an issue for the Titans, but Garth Brennan has opted to largely stick with the same group of players that lost 26-10 to the Warriors last week, with Max King coming onto the bench in place of the suspended Moeaki Fotuaika the only change.

Meanwhile, the Panthers will be hoping they can kick on from a confidence-boosting victory over the Tigers last week.

It was an off-season from hell for Penrith, and it’s clearly taken a toll on them judging by their performances over the first four rounds, but Nathan Cleary might have turned their season around with his last-minute heroics last week, nailing a sideline conversion after the siren and firing home a field goal in golden point to hand the Panthers a 9-8 win.

It was far from pretty in what could be described as the worst game of the season to date, but perhaps it could be the catalyst for Penrith to move onwards and upwards.

They’ve certainly got an excellent chance to make it back-to-back wins against the bottom-placed Titans. Penrith have won their last four meetings and Gold Coast have been woeful to begin the season. If they don’t win this, they are in trouble…

Stats

Panthers have won the last four games between the sides
Penrith have won their last two meetings at Cbus by one point
Titans last beat Panthers at home in 2015

Players List:
GOLD COAST TITANS:

Head Coach: Garth Brennan

Starting 13: Gordon, Don, Peachey, Kelly, Copley, Roberts, Taylor, Wallace, Rein, James, Proctor, Cartwright, Arrow – Interchanges: Brimson, King, Boyd, Hipgrave – Reserves: Stockwell, Sami, Jacks, Whitbread

Unavailable: Will Matthews, Nathan Peats, Moeaki Fotuaika

Gold Coast lost their fourth-straight game to begin the 2019 season as they went down to New Zealand Warriors in a one-sided game with the Titans again struggling with ball-in-hand.

The Titans' first-choice halfback pairing Ash Taylor and Tyrone Roberts returned to action last week but couldn't prevent the loss and despite another injury scare for the latter during the week, he appears to have won his fitness battle.

The only change for Garth Brennan’s side is an enforced one with Moeaki Fotuaika picking up a suspension so that means that Max King comes onto the bench as his replacement whilst Jack Stockwell is fit again and is listed as 18th man.

PENRITH PANTHERS:
Head Coach: Ivan Cleary

Starting 13: D. Watene-Zelezniak, Mansour, Whare, Blake, Edwards, Maloney, Cleary, Tamou, Katoa, Campbell-Gillard, Kikau, Yeo, Fisher-Harris – Interchanges: Egan, Fuimaono, Leota, Sele – Reserves: M. Watene-Zelezniak, Grant, Luai, Martin

Unavailable: Tyrone May, Sam McKendry, Frank Winterstein

Penrith left it late to secure the two points as they scored on the hooter to level the game with Wests Tigers before a golden point win, with the Panthers looking to make it back-to-back victories as they travel to the Gold Coast.

The Panthers are without Frank Winterstein due to a knee injury this week but Wayde Egan has been named after he came through the concussion protocol following a head knock last week.

Ivan Cleary has made a significant positional change with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak starting at fullback and Dylan Edwards on the wing, with the pair swapping positions after a successful switch during last week’s game.
THE PREDICTION
Gold Coast are yet to win a game in 2019 and now host a Penrith side fresh off a win that lifted the tension around the Panthers' camp. They rode their luck to beat Wests Tigers last week but can now look to kick on and will have too much for the Titans. They will be looking to put a winning run together and facing the winless Titans should allow them to score some points whilst building some confidence at the same time. The Titans will need to show plenty of improvement if they are to stay in the game but it is likely beyond them.

Melbourne Storm and North Queensland Cowboys clash in a rematch of the 2017 Grand Final on Friday night in Townsville.

These two teams have gone in totally opposite directions since that big showdown that Melbourne won 34-6 - the Cowboys have been languishing near the bottom of the ladder ever since, winning just eight games last season and going 1-3 to start 2019, while the Storm made another Grand Final in 2018 and are the only unbeaten side across the first four rounds this year.

Furthermore, Melbourne have won their last eight games against the Cowboys dating back to 2015 - and judging their respective performances to start this season, they are heavy favourites to make it nine on Friday night.

They’ve lost Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk over the last two seasons, but Melbourne still have Cameron Smith and Craig Bellamy steering the ship on and off the field, and as long as that partnership is intact, the Storm are always going to be a top four side.

Melbourne were somewhat fortunate to get out of jail against a rejuvenated Bulldogs outfit last week, recovering from 12-0 down to prevail 18-16, but you rarely see two sub-par performances from the Storm in a row - which is an ominous sign for North Queensland.

Defence has been the biggest issue for the Cowboys so far this season. They’ve played all four of their games in Queensland this year (three at home and the other in Brisbane), but they’ve conceded over 29 points in all three of their defeats.

That’s simply not going to cut it if you want to finish in the top eight.

With the Cowboys’ poor record against the competition leaders, it’s hard to see any way they can win on Friday night. Expect Melbourne to put together a more polished 80 minute this week and come away with another win.

Stats

Melbourne have won their last eight meetings
Storm have won three of their last four vs Cowboys by 13+
Cowboys have conceded 30 points in their last two losses at home

Players List:
NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS:

Starting 13: Martin, Macdonald, Kahu, Tuala, Hampton, Clifford, Morgan, Scott, Granville, McLean, Cooper, Hess, McGuire – Interchanges: Asiata, Jensen, Dunn, Molo – Reserves: Wright, O’Neill, Baptiste, Hola

Unavailable: Kyle Feldt, Murray Taulagi, Scott Bolton, Jason Taumalolo

North Queensland remain without a win since Round 1 after they went down to another defeat against Canberra last week and now face unbeaten Melbourne in another big test for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys avoided any injuries last week and despite another poor performance head coach Paul Green has resisted the urge to make wholesale changes to his side as they look for just their second win this season.

Their only change comes in the outside backs with Javid Bowen dropped, and he doesn’t even make the reserves this week, with Enari Tuala coming into the side in the centres while Ben Hampton reverts to the wing.

MELBOURNE STORM:
Head Coach: Craig Bellamy

Starting 13: Hughes, Seve, Chambers, Scott, Addo-Carr, Munster, Croft, J. Bromwich, C. Smith, Asofa-Solomona, F. Kaufusi, K. Bromwich, Finucane – Interchanges: B. Smith, Welch, Kamikamica, Papenhuyzen – Reserves: P. Kaufusi, Walters, Vete, Earl

Unavailable: Scott Drinkwater, Joe Stimson, Tom Eisenhuth, Suliasi Vunivalu

Melbourne were perhaps guilty of complacency as they narrowly defeated Canterbury to keep their 100% record intact by a narrow margin but Craig Bellamy will be demanding much more from his side this week.

Cameron Munster was again crucial for the Storm and he leads the way in the Dally M voting after picking up another three points, with the five-eighth already racking up nine points from just four matches.

It’s a case of one-in-one-out on the wing for the Storm as Josh Addo-Carr returns, but Suliasi Vunivalu copped a ban last week so he misses out with Marion Seve also shifting to the other wing and Will Chambers reverting to his usual position in the centres.
THE PREDICTION
North Queensland look set to be in for a long season as they lost yet again with Canberra seeing them off last week. They now host unbeaten Melbourne who are sure to have received a rocket from Craig Bellamy after a poor display in their win over Canterbury, with the Storm able to win comfortably. They will not put in another performance as disappointing as last week, which spells bad news for the Cowboys who will struggle to break the Melbourne defence down.

Brisbane Broncos vs Wests Tigers Live Streaming Free 2019 Online NRL 11 April Thursday

NRL Brisbane Broncos vs Wests Tigers Live Streaming Free Week 05 Rugby League, The Brisbane Broncos vs Wests Tigers Online at Suncorp Stadium, Australia. 2019 NRL Rugby Brisbane Broncos vs Wests Tigers Match will be kick of Thursday 11 April, Time:10:50. Welcome to watch Brisbane Broncos vs Wests Tigers Live online on your pc/laptop, mac, ipad. Do not wait to access this HD link, when the NRL Brisbane Broncos vs Wests Tigers Live Streaming Rugby 2019 is mostly over and you will get live stream, scores, results and highlights.

With just one win from four games to start the season, can the Broncos finally get their campaign going when they host the Tigers on Thursday night?

Brisbane actually began the season in encouraging fashion, producing a strong effort against Melbourne away from home and easing past the Cowboys, but since then they’ve been disappointing, going down in the final minute to the Dragons before being thrashed 36-4 by a rampant Roosters outfit last week.

It leaves the Broncos languishing in 13th position and already playing catch-up to the bigger sides after one month of football.

To make matters worse, James Roberts has been in the news again for all the wrong reasons after he was captured on video being dragged out of a nightclub. Nevertheless, he’s been named in the reserves as he recovers from an achilles injury, but Tevita Pangai is out suspended, with Patrick Carrigan named on the bench for his NRL debut.

Likewise, the Tigers made a blistering start to the season, winning their opening two games against Manly and the Warriors, but it’s been downhill ever since.

It all started with a limp performance as they were defeated by the lowly Bulldogs in Round 3, while they missed several chances to ice what was arguably the worst game of the season so far last week against the Panthers, with Ivan Cleary securing a sideline conversion and then a golden point field goal for Penrith to prevail 9-8.

Michael Maguire has made two changes to his starting side as a result, elevating Russell Packer and Josh Aloiai at the expense of Ben Matulino and Elijah Taylor.

Brisbane have dominated this fixture in recent times, winning eight of the last nine meetings between the teams, and I expect them to come out on top again on Thursday. The Tigers have barely threatened in attack the last two weeks, while I think the Broncos haven’t been too bad apart from last week against the minor premiers. Brisbane deserve to start favourites.

Players List:
BRISBANE BRONCOS:

Head Coach: Anthony Seibold

Starting 13: Boyd, Oates, Staggs, Bird, Isaako, Milford, Nikorima, Lodge, McCullough, Ofahengaue, Glenn, Gillett, Fifita – Interchanges: Shibasaki, Su’A, Flegler, Carrigan – Reserves: Haas, Fensom, Roberts, Kennar

Unavailable: Tevita Pangai Jnr.

Brisbane lost their third game of the season as they suffered their record defeat against Sydney Roosters in another below-par performance which has seen questions asked of new head coach Anthony Seibold.

Seibold is trying to change the way the Broncos play, much like he did at the Rabbitohs in his rookie season last year, but it is taking time to implement and he hasn’t been helped by some of his players seriously underperforming.

The Broncos will be without prop Tevita Pangai Jnr. for the next two matches after he copped a ban for a late shot on Cooper Cronk, with David Fifita named at lock in his place, whilst Patrick Carrigan has been named on the bench for his NRL debut.

WESTS TIGERS:

Head Coach: Michael Maguire

Starting 13: Mbye, Fonua, Jennings, Marsters, Thompson, Reynolds, Brooks, Packer, Farah, Twal, Matterson, Garner, Aloiai – Interchanges: Matulino, Mikaele, Eisenhuth, Chee-Kam – Reserves: Momirovski, Taylor, Nofoaluma, McQueen

Unavailable: Chris Lawrence, Benji Marshall

Wests Tigers failed to see the game out against Penrith last week, with the Panthers hitting back late on before securing a golden point win to condemn the Tigers to a second consecutive defeat.

Josh Reynolds put in a superb performance for the Tigers as he looks to maintain his place in the side ahead of Benji Marshall's return with the latter failing to prove his fitness in time for this contest.

Russell Packer swaps places with Ben Matulino this week as the former comes into the starting line-up whilst Elijah Taylor makes way for Josh Aloiai who starts at lock.
THE PREDICTION
Brisbane look to have some real issues and James Roberts appears to have compounded that with his off-field antics hitting the spotlight after their huge loss to the Roosters. Now the Broncos host Wests Tigers in what should be a cagey affair. The Tigers have shown to be competent in defence and that could frustrate the Broncos with their own defence struggling. They are sure to have faced some stern words after last week and that could well be enough to guide them to a much-needed win.
